The Story

Hello! My name is Julian Businessman and I’m an 11-year-old kid who has been doing business all over the Upper West Side of NYC since I was 4.

I came up with the idea of creating a Kids Business Fair because I wanted other kids to experience the same exhilaration I always feel when I run my stands and donate a part of my profit to charity.

The first Kids Business Fair took place on June 15, 2025 at The Grand Bazaar NYC (see video!) We made it possible for 15 kids to run their own shops, sell their own self-made products, and donate at least 30% of their net profits to a charity of their choice. Together we raised $1,706.67 for 10 different charities!

The 2nd Julian Businessman Kids Business Fairwill take place on SUNDAY JUNE 14, 2026, again at The Grand Bazaar. Please consider supporting our young entrepreneurs by attending, or if you’re not able to, put something in our virtual tip jar! All proceeds will go towards covering the costs of running the fair and keeping this entrepreneurial experience FREE so any kid can learn these very important life skills. (They do have to pay their own shop expenses of course. It’s still business!)

I covered all the event expenses myself in order to give these kids and future kids an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Shop: CHESS FOR CHANGE
Selling: Chess games and vouchers for chess lessons.
Bio: Alex is an 11-year-old rising 6th grader who loves lego, math, chess, running, political history and chatting with interesting people.
Chosen Charity: Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) because he thinks it's unfair for small children who don't speak English to appear in deportation hearings without an advocate in the form of a lawyer.

Shop: ART BY ANNIE
Selling: Drawings of people in their everyday life, and custom portraits.
Bio: Annie is a 10 year old 5th grader who enjoys reading, writing short stories, drawing, listening to music, playing the piano, baking, and hanging out with her friends and siblings.
Chosen Charity: A House on Beekman which has a daycare and after school program in the Bronx because I think it is important for all kids to have access to great schools and big opportunities.

Selling: Crayons that have been reimagined into different shapes including hearts in all colors of the rainbow, letters - and poop!
Bio: I like to play basketball, go to the beach, read and do fun things like watching movies and playing games. I also enjoy riding waterslides and roller coasters.
Chosen Charity: I picked Mercy Center in the Bronx because I like that they help families.

Shop: AUDREY’S ROSE PETALS BOUTIQUE
Selling: Homemade lip balm and glosses, handmade beaded bracelets and necklaces, and fuse bead art crafts.
Bio: Audrey is a fourth grader at PS199 and is nine years old. In her free time she loves to play basketball and also go cheer on New York basketball teams! She also is a Swiftie and plays Taylor Swift songs on the piano! She is excited to sell her products here!
Chosen Charity: The Galapagos Conservancy because I love penguins and I would love to help a penguin species that is endangered!

Shop: CALLIE’S CABANA
Selling: Beaded bracelets and ‘crochet buddies'.
Bio: My name is Callie, I am 14 years old and in eighth grade. I love to act, sing and write poetry.
Chosen Charity: I am donating 100% of my sales to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) because supporting queer people is extremely important, especially now. HRC fights for the rights of mainly the LGBTQ+ community, but also other communities.

Shop: JULIAN BUSINESSMAN
Selling: Merchandise I designed using a Julian Businessman branded alphabet I designed: mugs, bucket hats, tote bags, dog bowls, and kids’ shirts.
Bio: Julian is the 10-year-old organizer of the Kids Business Fair (with lots of help from his unpaid intern—his Mom). You can read all about him here. He loves business, and also reading and Dungeons & Dragons camps at Writopia Lab.
Chosen Charity: The Grand Bazaar NYC, which is the non-profit that organizes the weekly Sunday market that is allowing us to have the fair at their market. The Grand Bazaar NYC donates all of their profits to 4 local public schools, including the one I will be going to in the fall for middle school.

Shop: KANAMI’S JAPANESE HANDCRAFT STUDIO
Selling: Japanese handcraft goods: Origami earrings, coasters, and keychains, Japanese Customizable Sensu Fan (last minute father's gift purchase!!)
Bio: Kanami is a 4th grader who is teaming up with her best friend Margot to bring Japanese handcrafts to NYC! She loves singing and musicals, playing soccer, and eating sweets—especially Japanese gummies!
Chosen Charity: Animal Refuge Kansai, a NPO organization for animals in Japan.
Kanami loves her grandma’s dog, Lily, and wants all dogs to be loved and cared for just like her.
She also wants to help support dogs who were separated from their families after the Noto earthquake.

Bio: I am a 13-year-old 8th grader and I love to draw, paint and sculpt.

Bio Zavi: My name is Zaver, but I go by Zavi, and I'm a 10 year old 4th grader at PS 199. I love playing basketball and I'm a huge sneakerhead. My favorite pair of sneakers so far have been Kobe Bryant's Grinch's.
Bio Zara: My name is Zara and I'm a 6 year old kindergartener at PS 199. I love gymnastics and own a pair of Jordan sneakers.

Selling: I will be selling art items made by me - coasters, bookmarks and a little something for Father’s day!
Bio: I am Zina, I am 8 years old and I am in 3rd grade. I love painting, creating things and dancing. I enjoy listening to music while doing my art.
Chosen Charity: Bear Conservation Fund because I love bears. Recently on a trip to Upstate I so wanted to see a bear that a big black bear walked through the house me and my family were staying at :)

Chosen Charity: I picked 2 charities. Alex's Lemonade Stand: To help save young lives by supporting research to find a cure to childhood cancer. And Mañana Otro Dia: To help people who recently arrived in our community and are not as fortunate as us.
